Methodology
The VetIntel Volatility Index is a composite score from 0 to 100 measuring market instability for each tracked qualification. The index incorporates three equally-weighted components:
- Pricing variance — coefficient of variation in market pricing across active providers.
- Provider churn — rate of scope additions and removals relative to total provider count.
- Regulatory disruption — frequency of compliance actions, conditions and regulatory changes affecting the qualification scope.
Scores are recalculated monthly using a rolling 12-month data window. A score above 80 indicates critical volatility warranting heightened monitoring.
